Accommodations Around MMU Melaka

Since my post on Studying Law in MMU, I've been receiving many emails asking, among other things, where to stay around MMU Melaka. So, I've decided to write this blog post addressing it.

*Note: 1. Distance refers to Walking Distance; 2. I am not a property agent. I can answer basic inquiries, but for more specific info please do contact relevant parties.

1. Ixora Apartment

Distance to MMU: from Ixora main gate: 2 mins via MMU side entrance.
Monthly Rental: ~RM300~RM660
Options: Single (~RM400 onwards) or Twin Sharing (~RM300) // with Attached Bathroom or without
No air conditioner provided (except for certain limited units)

This is the nearest management-based accommodation nearby MMU. Pricier, but it has 24-hours security guard, a swimming pool, lift, and Block D is pretty new and comfortable.
I would recommend Ixora or ER (below) if you're new to Melaka, mainly coz of its convenience in renting while you're not in Melaka.

Official Website: www.ixora2u.com

2. Emerald Residence

Distance to MMU: 3 mins via Main entrance.
Monthly Rental: ~RM300
Options: Twin Sharing, without attached bathroom
No air conditioner

I've been in one of the units- it's spacious, comfortable and with more modern furnishings compared to Ixora. Although this is without en-suite, each room has its own bathroom just outside their bedroom door, so shower/toilet will not be too much of a problem.

BUT- this apartment is only open for females, so it's somewhat safer. Security is strict too; as far as I know, the safety here is better than in Ixora.

3. Emerald Park Apartment

Distance to MMU: 2 mins via Main Entrance.
Monthly Rental: ~RM250
Options: Single or Sharing
No air conditioner

I have never entered EP before, but according to my friends who've stayed there, it is a very humble place. Modest furniture and the like. Also, note that this is shophouse style, so you may sometimes smell food cooking downstairs etc.

Other than that, this place is cheap and very near to MMU.

Official Website: here

4. Bukit Beruang Permai (BBP)

Distance to MMU: 10-15mins via back gate.
Monthly Rental: ~RM200
BBP is located right next to Ixora Apartment. This is a private unit apartment, so arrangements need to be made directly with the owners. Pretty decent size place, and reasonably priced as most of it comes with aircond.
Fully fenced and gated area with 24-hours security; not as strict as Ixora or EP.

There isn't any official website, but you can look at iBilik or Mudah.my or MMU Melaka House Rent Facebook Group.

5. University Green Apartment (UG)

Distance to MMU: 15-20mins via back gate.
Monthly Rental: ~RM220
UG is another Private unit apartment, located right next to BBP (if you look closely at the BBP pic, you'll see UG at the right side of the pic). Gated and with 24-hours security.
Slightly more expensive than BBP but UG is more modern and the layout and design are posher. There're also a few penthouse units. Like BBP, the monthly rental can get you airconditioned room too.

6. The Heights

Next to UG, this is a new real estate, so I'm not sure about the specifications. But you can look through the FB Group or other house rental sites for it. All I know is it looks very clean and modern and quite classy.

7. Housing Area

Since all these properties are privately owned, you'll need to Google or look through the FB page. Or if you're in Melaka, you can drive around and look out for the Rental Signs.

Taman Dahlia

Right behind MMU, nearest entry is MMU back gate. Dahlia is a double-storied terrace house residential area. Typically 3 Beds 2 Baths. Rental for a whole unit range from ~RM800-1500.

Taman Bunga Raya

Next to MMU, nearest entry from MMU Tennis Court. Not too sure about the rooms and rental, but I've heard its cheaper than Dahlia.

Taman Kerjasama

Across the main road from MMU. Relatively cheaper and there're some pretty sweet houses/rooms for rent here.

That is all I can think of! Should you have any basic inquiries, do leave a comment or e-mail me! Please do not e-mail me specific and technical stuffs which you can get by merely contacting the relevant management or via Google.

Audrey

Studying Law in MMU

Hello! I received quite some questions on studying law in MMU these days so I decided to write a post about my experience and some "tips" for taking law in MMU.

Bye Foundation! Hi Trimester Break!

Unofficially done with my pre-uni studies!

Finished our last paper on Thursday and I'm breathing easier now. But that won't be long. I'll be moving forward to my Degree in Law by end of June given that I passed all my subjects.

I'll be flying back home soon and I still haven't pack nor plan activities for this break. I do, however, have plans for the end of my break, and I'm super excited about it! :D

So I went through one year of pre-law education... 3 Trimesters of emotions, activities, people. I just have to go through 4 more of this and I'll be off to really spread my wings.

To be frank, I'm looking forward to the end of my time in MMU because of reasons. I know I should appreciate my time here and fully immerse myself in this experience, a graduating friend told me to enjoy my uni life tremendously coz I'll only get one shot at this. Well I guess just because I want this to end doesn't mean I don't enjoy myself now. I do. I join clubs, hang out with friends, stay up late for random things, eating at mamak at 3am, roadtrips... I do enjoy my life now. But yeah, thinking of the loans I'd rake up by the end of this 4 years gives me panic attacks and makes me stressed out about getting First Class Honours so I won't have to repay PTPTN. It's hard and in a way beyond my control, but I HAVE to try and do my best. The only problem is that I'm pretty sure if I failed to achieve what I want, I'll feel like I didn't give my best, or that my best just isn't enough.

I guess I'm just scared of the feeling of failing myself.

But HEY! Sem Break is here and I can unwind for nearly a month so I should be happy!

Here's to a marvelous sem break with amazing memories (and photographs as keepsake!)!

Trimester 2 so far

I am drowning!!!! There's just soooo many things needed to be done and it's all so exhilarating! I'll be entering week 5 tomorrow and I still have no idea what I learned this new trimester! My brain is still quite blank and I really am afraid of failing!!!

Anyhow, I still do write To-Do List daily and I still use calendars to keep track of the tasks I have to perform. But atm I just write my lists in a random book which I merge with my business notes. Note to self: Get an Agenda or Planner! I actually planned to get it when I was in KL but it's quite expensive and I don't really feel like shelling money out just for that, but now, at this moment, I feel like I actually do need it! Printing out calendars is still okay but the problem is that the calendar is not with my to-dos, and it's quite troublesome to bring the calendar out since it's just a flimsy piece of paper and gets crumpled easily...

Syariah Law feels quite simple but is actually not. I really do have to study for it...

Business too...

And so is Accounting...

Also Criminal and Constitutional Law...

And Politics and Governance...

Essential English is still okay I guess...

I'm not only targeting for a pass, I want As! But to be honest, I really do enjoy reading law :) It's interesting really. If only I have the time sigh~

Well strictly speaking, I actually do have time, but during my free time I'm mostly worn out and tired and not feeling like studying. HAVE TO SNAP OUT OF IT!!!! I remember last Trimester I studied every single day when I'm free coz I have lots of time at hand since I'm initially not involved in any clubs or societies, and it makes me feel very productive. This sem, ......

Well! Same as my fitness progress, I HAVE to start being studious again! Studyblr is not really working for me anymore so I can't depend on it!

Think I'll have to print out or write down my Life Goals and put it up on my wall just so I can remind myself to do it.

After My First Trimester in MMU :)

Ah I'd really forgotten to update this blog!

So I've been studying in MMU for 4 months now and met a lot of amazing people whom I wish I know earlier! People like my housemates + roommate, Catholic Student Society (CSS) especially since they are all super nice people and are among the best people I met in life.

Being and living with my housemates has taught me a lot of things. They're the sisters I never have and for that I am thankful. We'd stay up till late talking in the living room or just doing our own stuffs there, which is quite family-like IMO since most people I know don't really utilize the living area WITH their housemates. In our apartment, we are like a big family. We look out for each other (mostly them-me since I'm new haha), use each other's stuffs, and listen to each other's daily rant etc.

We had quite a bit outings and made wonderful memories together which are all documented by photos (thankfully!). And these made it hard for me (and us) to say goodbye to one who is graduating hence moving out :'(

The CSS Family is also my another family alongside my housemates- Just by being with them made me a better Catholic (I hope). I started going to weekly masses again, and I started to not be embarrassed for praying before I eat (I know. Don't judge).

I just love the happy and positive aura they all have and I kinda regret not taking pics with any of them lol. Yea i just went through my phone- I have 0 nice two-person shot with any of them lol. All photos I have with them (and that's a limited amount) are group photos...

New Resolution: Take more pictures. Seriously. Document life with pictures even if it seems annoying and troublesome.

Well, I really don't have any ideas to write and I have no pictures to show. So I'll sign off now.

Arrivedeci~

ATC vs BAC - which is better for me?

Sigh, I know, i know, in my previous post, i've babble about going to BAC. BUT! After much thinking and research, i've found out that ATC offers A-level at a more lower price than BAC (3 subjects), AND a lot of people says that ATC is better in A-levels and LLB, while BAC is better in CLP. I don't know how true that is, but i've called both school, and the staff at ATC is quite helpful, they answer all my questions, even stupid ones haha
p.s: I only chose ATC and BAC because both are LAW SCHOOL. It's like, more specific, and it's like what they're specialize in. Y'know? Too many cooks spoil the broth? See, if the school only focuses on one or two courses, surely it's better, right?
